NOW THEREFORE, I, DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, President of the United States of America, do hereby call upon all of our citizens to observe November 11…On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.”

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we pay tribute to all our veterans past and present. These proud patriots answered a call, some not so willingly as others, but they all did answer the call. They stepped up raised their right hands and said, “I do solemnly swear that I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies…” They kept their oath all over the world many paying the ultimate price for freedom.  On this day let us never forget and thank all those who have served.

The Honor Bell Foundation was conceived with the desire to honor all veterans for their faithful service. In addition to those who served in the Armed Forces we want to honor those who place their lives on the line to protect and defend our communities: First Responders. The Honor Bell will toll for Service members killed in action, first responders killed in the line of duty and all veterans who pass. None of these heroes should ever pass without having honors rendered. Our goal is to provide bell honors to as many as possible.

You can help the Honor Bell Foundation in this worthy goal here. You can also pay honor to a fallen veteran or family member who served. Each time we render Bell Honors by tolling The Honor Bell we are tolling it in memory of them as well.

“A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.” –President John F. Kennedy
