BELL GUARD PROFILE: DANIEL “PADDY” MCCUTCHON

PADDY MCCUTCHON AT A BELL HONORS EVENT IN 2018.

Paddy McCutchon is one of our longest-serving Bell Guards. He grew up all across the country, starting in Texas and moving through Virginia, Colorado, and Kansas. Serving in the Air Force, he called Washington state his home. While in the USAF, he worked in Space Operations, in the area of Missile Warning; although he says he also “had the opportunity to baby-sit ICBMs underneath the plains of North Dakota” while on assignment.

After retiring from the military, Paddy has continued serving his community as a Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff. When he is not working at the county’s detention facility, he volunteers with the Denver Zoo and the Roundup River Ranch. In addition to the Bell Guard, McCutchon also participates with the Buckley Air Force Base Honor Guard at funeral missions in the area.

He enjoys honoring veterans and being in the company of like-minded individuals while serving in the Bell Guard, he says. “I believe recognizing those veterans of all services; and their sacrifices, great or small, who came before me and helped make this the best nation on earth, is an honor and a privilege.”
